The United States District Court for the Eastern District of California has certified the case of Adoma, et al. v. The University of Phoenix, Inc., et al., Civil Action No. 2:10-cv-00059 as a class action and approved a copy of the class notice to be mailed to class members.
The lawsuit covers unpaid overtime for alleged off-the-clock work, unpaid overtime for not including the value of tuition benefits in computing the overtime rate of pay, missed meal breaks, improper paycheck stubs, and penalties for wilfully failing to pay all wages upon termination.
The University of Phoenix denies any wrongdoing, and says that all wages were properly paid in compliance with the law.
